Dear Josh,

I have really enjoyed re-reading this text! I wanted to take advantage of the “new brain” I have as a reasonable amount of time has passed since I last read it. So, I immediately accepted all of your changes - this way I felt that I could receive the text as a whole, and pick up any new issues. And, honestly, it really floored me. It is tightly told, but packed with information an analysis. On almost every page I felt like you were perfectly articulating something essential, and picking up all of the stray threads that The Employee encompasses. Other than a few copy edit questions I had, I forbid you to change this text. It is READY!

Reading this also clarified for me the purpose of my introduction, which has actually been the thing that has been holding back my work. Because this text has become (or maybe always was, but I had forgotten) the actual introductory essay of the book. It hits all the notes: context, history, overarching analysis, caveats and explications. And so, I know now, that this is not the text I need to write - it already exists so brilliantly! It takes pressure off, but also prevents me muddying the waters with repetition. As I have been writing this introduction I get something down and immediately like: Josh/Dana/Marina etc. said exactly this but so much better - but somehow seeing it all layed out in this narrative makes this a freeing thought. I can now approach my introduction with brevity, like a spring board for the reader to dive into the meat of it.

So, in total, I’m glad that we both came back to this text. Well done and thank you!

Dear Lauren.
Phew! Thank you so much for giving me the go ahead to rework it. I’m really glad I did. I think it helped to come back to it after having worked out the other text, to tighten things up, and to find lurking conclusions.
I’m so glad to have your positive feedback, too. And heartened to hear that it has helped clarify how your introduction can operate.
Onwards!!!

hi Lauren,
here's the most uptodate version of the artist's narrative, https://docs.google.com/document/#redacted
with comments that we just discussed. Feel free to resolve the tiny hangnails, and then move back to the appropriate folder.
