Hi Josh,

I’ve spent the morning going through the in-text images.

Here are the images that seem clear:

Carlesimo: The image of Teresa taking a picture of Camille works well for this text

Valcourt-Synnott: Camille’s notes can illustrate this text. I’ve made a note that the designer can choose the best 2 pages out of the 5 provided.

Chhay: The LIDS insert makes sense

Ryner Convo: An image of Solvent and an image of Mediation Culturelle?

Schwebel IC text: The images you have listed

MBL: Images she suggests

Here is where I am struggling:

Kopel, Vishmidt: The only images that make sense for Kopel and Vischmidt are the performance stills, but is this where we want this documentation to live?

Schwebel Narrative: This one is tricky because most of the possible images are the Primary Documents. Do we still want to put these in a specific section or can we use them to illustrate this text? If we don’t use the primary documents, I think this text should either have no images or 2 more (and only 1 of the 50/50 split graphic).

Lacombe: No images are jumping out to me. Do you have any ideas? Maybe Michelle has a snapshot of her working in an arc back in the day?

Let me know what you think about all this and we will keep moving forward.

Hi Lauren,

Thanks for working through this.

I think most of the images as you have suggested make sense, but also that not all texts need images, as for example Kopel and Vishmidt.

Michelle’s as well, there is no need for an image.

For Camille’s work, I would actually suggest that we use screenshots of the application process rather than her hand-written notes, since that adds a meta-visual onto the form of the text as grant application.

Overall, I still think that the primary documents and screen shots should stay together in an inset, since many of the texts refer to them, so it makes more sense to keep them in their own section, so readers can reference them as needed.

As for the artist’s narrative, I am fine with just using one image from the graphic 50/50 and leaving the rest of the text as is, or using a selection of screenshots of the emails from the Canada Council to counter-narrate the text.

Happy to talk these things through further, however it seems like we agree on most of the texts and only have a couple of decisions to confirm.
