publication updates

I hope your time with FCG is going well.

I finally can confirm that we are working towards a printing date for The Employee publication. We will have the complete text package in the designers' hands by the end of this month. After this, the timeline suggests that we will have printed copies by June (final date tbd).

It has been a much larger and therefore longer project than anticipated, but the book contents will be so much more fulsome as a result of the additional contributions.

Including contributions from myself, Lauren Wetmore (co-editor), and Teresa Carlesimo, the book will include contributions from the following writers:

-Camille-Zoé Valcourt-Synnott (the employee)

-Bopha Chhay

-Michelle Lacombe

-Denise Ryner

-Mariane Bourcheix-Laporte

-Dana Kopel

-Marina Vishmidt

The project will also include a website archiving the correspondence around the work.

When Teresa and I last spoke, we had an arrangement in place that FCG would co-publish the book. Essentially, FCG would send along a logo to be included in the colophon, etc. and would receive 80 copies to distribute within London. We could speak about the financial arrangement for the sale of the publication, since nothing got set in stone, but FCG would not need to contribute anything to the printing costs as a publisher. Would you still be amenable to this?

We can also discuss coordinating a launch in London in a month or two, once the publication date is nearer.

In the meantime, I hope you could send a logo that we can use in the publication colophon.

Thanks for touching base on this. Your project is really amazing. I don't think I followed up with you, but I was so immediately struck by the potency of your essay when I first read it a few months back. Like a few Ontario cities, we're in the midst of a multi-year city budget here in London which will see 100% of requested funding go to the police, and cuts across the board in transportation, libraries, and the arts & cultural sectors. It's been an exhausting (demoralizing, but also radicalizing) time of advocacy, and so to have this publication emerge right now will be vitally important. For example, I'll send a copy to our Ward Councillor, who is not altogether sure that municipalities need to fund the arts sectors and hasn't even looked into it for her own knowledge . ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯ 

So yes! Please do continue as planned. I'll send you access to a shared folder with our logos now. It's really great that we get those copies without a financial contribution needed. I'd be happy to talk through an arrangement for sales, and let's also talk about a launch and program here. You're going to be engaging the community right when they're all fired up about this topic.
