I hope your move went smoothly!

Josh and I are finally rounding a bend on the book, so I am writing to update you that we are aiming to send you 4 final texts for copy editing by mid-October, and the remaining 2 text should be with you shortly after those. Our goal is to have all the text content to the designers by the end of October. 

I was also thinking that perhaps, in the meantime, you could get started on the bibliography by compiling the sources from the footnotes of the 5 texts that have been completed. That way it will be about half-done by the time you receive the remaining material.

Moving is, as always, a hassle, but we’ve landed safely and are getting settled in!

Exciting to hear that we’re getting close to a final product! Mid-October works for me in terms of editing those last 6 texts - if I remember correctly they’re not as long as those already completed, so I can turn them around relatively quickly.

In terms of the bibliography, my understanding from our initial exchange was that I agreed to edit the bibliography, rather than compile and edit. The work of compiling is outside of my editorial offerings. In my experience it's more efficient for authors to compile their own bibliographies, as they are familiar with their texts, sources, and research - which reduces the chances of sources being lost or other mistakes being made. I’m happy to ensure the bibliography is formatted correctly and isn’t missing any necessary information once it’s compiled.

Glad to hear that you’re settling in.

Also so good that mid-October will work for you. Also, just so you know, the length of the new round of texts does vary – some are longer.

Our apologies for misunderstanding the assignment of duties re: the bibliography.
