However, some funders do not have a designated point person, instead opting only to make available a generic ‘info’ email. (In some cases this can be attributed to transitional moments). This makes it extremely difficult to maintain consistent conversations about organizational intentions, directions, or simply to ask for clarifications about the priorities of funding programs. | Bopha Chhay • 3:33 AM, Sep 18 (CEST)@ do you think footnote 19 is necessary? I'd be happy to delete it. Assigned to Lauren Wetmore |
 | Josh Schwebel • 2:28 PM, Sep 26 (CEST)I think this is totally worthwhile. This is actually something that was really frustrating during the process of the work, as we encountered several situations in which questions were left unanswered because of automated communications. It is also evidence of neoliberal workings not just on the arts worker side of the equation, but also within the working culture of Council itself, as agents are withdrawn more and more from the arts community that they serve in order to further impose administrative regimes into cultural contexts. |
 | Lauren Wetmore • 3:39 PM, Sep 26 (CEST)NewI agree that it should stay. Its something I have encountered too. |
SomeOne of the most morbid long-term effects of underfunding , the most morbid, are burnout, organizational self-censorship and a loss of institutional memory. | Bopha Chhay • 3:04 AM, Sep 18 (CEST)The quote from Fuse as cited in the footnote reads as 'Of the long-term effects of underfunding, the most morbid are burnout, organizational self-censorship and a loss of institutional memory.' I think we should keep it as written in the original editorial no? |
 | Lauren Wetmore • 3:37 PM, Sep 26 (CEST)NewYes! I editing it not realising it was a quote. |

the artist | Lauren Wetmore • 9:39 AM, Sep 13 (CEST)It could reinforce your point here to mention that all three people involved are artists - Josh, Teresa and Camille? |
 | Bopha Chhay • 4:27 AM, Sep 18 (CEST)Yes. Thank you for pointing that out. |

As a performance, The Employee emphasizes process rather than the product. It is important to note this aspect of the work as it frees ‘the employee’ from the usual obligations of a job. The contract, between the ARTIST Joshua Schwebel and the PERFORMANCE ARTIST Camille Zoe Valcourt Synnott detailing the expectations of the performance exteriorizes the administrative work of grant writing outside of the usual place of work, that being the GALLERY (Forest City Gallery). It does not fetishize the labour performed by arts workers in terms of aesthetics, but instead frees it. Externalizing the performance from the space of the gallery further removes the potential for the added moral responsibilities that frequently accompany the work. The employee is thereby freed from the usual metrics of anticipated progress, productivity, and success. | Lauren Wetmore • 9:42 AM, Sep 13 (CEST)I think that the paragraph above does such a strong job of concluding this essay that I would consider removing this paragraph. As it presents some new analysis it sits a bit uncomfortably as the last note, and it would be a shame to detract from the strength of what has just come above. |
 | Bopha Chhay • 3:38 AM, Sep 18 (CEST)Yes, I agree. Thank you for your fresh eyes Lauren. |

As an organization that was founded in 1986, Artspeak is one of the more established artist-run centres in Canada and, as a result, hasd solid HR practices in place. It continues to pay close attention to employment standards and fairand, fair wages while, addressing and ensuring benefits, regular working hours, adequate leave, an annual review, and possibilities for professional development. The organization attemptsed to build in flexibility to allow staff to pursue their artistic practice. This iswas the responsibility of the HR committee together with the director. | Lauren Wetmore • 11:24 AM, Sep 12 (CEST)I have changed this to present tense, but it is possible that you wanted it to be in past tense as these observations do not extend to before and after your tenure. |
 | Bopha Chhay • 4:29 AM, Sep 18 (CEST)I'm happy with the suggested change in tense. |
