Dear Camille and Teresa,
I just wanted to check about the follow ups from last meeting.
Teresa, what is your verdict about the cca digital strategy funding?
I just wanted to know if it makes sense for us to meet early next week, and if not, whether there are other things Camille should prepare over the holidays, and when we should meet again.
Take care!
best,
Josh

Hi Teresa,

I was wondering if you had the extension of a grant officer at the Canada Council, because the regular line says it can be up to 2 days to get an answer, and they are closed after today until January 4th...
If you have a specific number that would be awesome and I can call them directly.

Thanks so much!
Best,

Hi both,

I emailed you on Wednesday night, but I'm guessing it was not received and I don't see it in my messages anywhere. This gmail account was down for several hours—I only know this because I was sending messages to known addresses and getting bounce-backs indicating that the address didn't exist. Sorry this, I should have followed up to ensure it reached you but I didn't get a bounce back with yours. So frustrating.

Camille—did you have a chance to speak with a program officer for DSF? The more I thought about the residency version of a proposal the more I believe that it's not a suitable fit for DSF. I have made a brief outline for the LOMAA partnership idea and quite honestly the idea is terribly convoluted and too far in the direction of production that I don't think it fits the DSF mandate either. I'm sorry to be a debby downer, but I just find this grant to be so narrow that I'm not sure I have an eligible idea that also fits with FCG. Alternatively, we could lower our budet ask and frame it as research and consultation into launching this programme (or a similar programme), which I think has more of a chance of being granted.

Let me know what you think!

Hi Camille,

Our grant officer at CCA is Francois Dion. This is the only direct contact we have. While he's unlikely to be able to answer our questions, he may be able to put you in contact with someone who can? Francois' contact info:

Hi both,

I have tried to reach someone earlier today and since their office is closing at the end of the day it seems like nobody was available. I have watched 2 videos and read the guidelines again and I am still a bit at a loss regarding what we could apply for that is actually interesting for FCG and also fits within the DSF eligible activities.
I guess we could apply for a smaller amount, as you mentioned Teresa, and research/learn about what the next steps could be.
Should we meet to discuss this in more detail if we decide to apply?
I am also totally open if we decide that this isn't the best grant for FCG right now. There will obviously be more opportunities to apply to in 2021!

Let me know what you both think.
Best,

Dear both,
I am not sure about meeting. Teresa, I think it’s ultimately up to you, whether or not you feel committed to going for the DSF.
For my part I don’t feel like we have a strong image of what we would apply for / with, and would be ok to skip it, and meet again in the new year to prepare the young canada works, etc. but I am also totally open to going forward with this application if you think it would be beneficial.
In case we don’t meet, I hope you both have good holidays and I look forward to continuing to see each other soon.
Warmly,
Josh
