Questions OAC Grant

Hi Teresa,

I have a few questions about the OAC Grant.

1. About the website: you mentioned that FCG would need to upgrade the plan to facilitate sales online. I know you are currently with Wix, but was wondering if you know the current plan you have and the one you would need to upgrade to. (This is for the budget)

2. In the grant I have to attach a CV or bio of the key members of the organization(you?)/contributors to the projects (potentially a web designer and a translator?). I just wanted to give you a heads up that I will need your CV. If we are able to get in contact with a web designer and have information about them, that would be great too!

3. About translating the website: I quickly compiled most of the pages to have an idea of the number of words to translate and it's way over budget at a regular rate of 0.12$/word. I was thinking that with the grant we can focus on maybe the past 5 years to start with? Or to focus on translating the exhibitions pages? Let me know what you think.

4. An additional thing that I was thinking about yesterday while going through the website: Do you think we could include a fee for a photographer to have a few images of each exhibition (prior to 2018 I noticed all the exhibitions had a few images online, which is great!). If you think that can be added to the grant, does the gallery already have someone that they are used to work with? I know that you mentioned that you are able to photograph works with your own camera, but I just think that it would be great if we can take that extra task off your list. Let me know what you think!

That's all for now, sorry for the long email. Let me know if you prefer to meet quickly via Zoom to discuss any of this if that's better for you! I'm free until 1pm today.

Thanks and have a great day!
Best,

Hi Camille,

Thanks for your email and sorry for the slow reply, I was trying to get an answer from the OAC about a question, but it seems like one may not be coming today.

Before I get to answering these questions, I have some follow-ups from Monday. I have emailed ████ and requested that we are put in touch with a web developer directly. I've also called the OAC to clarify "involving artistic personnel" vs. "partners". I was unable to reach any of the officers so I sent an email and will follow up with you as soon as I hear back from them. I do believe we're likely correct regarding the differences here when we chatted on Monday, but I'd like to have that confirmed.

Also, I see that █████ emailed you regarding a fundraising meeting for Friday, but it's really not necessary that you attend that meeting since you won't really be assisting with the MSS. I asked you to the first introductory meeting because down the road you will have more of a role, but no need to take hours away from grants for a meeting that won't be particularly useful to you.

1. I've checked in with the Media Chair about this and our current website can facilitate sales! No need to upgrade or link other software.

2. I'll put my CV in the OAC folder later today--right now my Mac is mounted to the ceiling playing Michele Pearson Clarke's video work so I don't have access to it!

3. I actually think only the past 1 year for exhibitions and 1 year for events, and then the About page, Safe Space and Accessibility policy (I wrote these during my first month here and they were only just voted in at the AGM in late September, so still need to be added to the website), and Get Involved page are the most important. Not our archives.

4. Yes, we actually spoke about the lack of documentation post 2018 yesterday! I have been documenting and I started a shared google drive folder with our Media Chair where I've been uploading the documentation from exhibitions since I've arrived. I'll be having the interns work on adding images to the website next week, and going forward we'll be continuing that practice.

Hi Camille,

With regard the Merit section about involving artistic personnel and the Impact section asking if we will be working with partners, its pretty much what we assumed. First of all, it is possible that there will be overlap between the answers to these questions, and I was told that as long as the information somewhere in the application "it won't make a huge difference". With that said, it was recommended that individuals be included in the Merit section, so artists we've consulted, technicians, etc. whereas the Impact section would include any outside partners, for which our response is simply N/A because we're not involving any partners.
