About this project

Hi!

Josh Schwebel <privatejosh@gmail.com> To: Marina Vishmidt <████████████████ >

Hi Marina,
I hope you are well! It was nice to just see you, especially because you have been very much on my mind lately, as I am reading Speculation as a Mode of Production. It’s so, so good, and addresses and clarifies so much of what I experience and struggle to articulate.
I was wondering if you might have a chance to speak (online) at some point.
I am working on a project that I think might interest you, and I would love to know what you think about it, and if you might consider writing about it for a publication I am undertaking.
Thank you as always for your incredible intelligence.
Warmly,
Josh

Hi Josh,

Great to see you yesterday in the conversation. Unfortunately my computer died several hours later that evening, or I would have replied sooner! Now on a borrowed one, hoping it will be an easy problem to fix in the repair shop tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind remarks on the book, and sure, will probably have time to speak the week after this one, as this is the last week of term.

Look forward to catching up, and hearing about the project you mention, and how things have been in general. Let me know what times/dates would be good for you.

all the best,
Marina

hi dear Marina,
I hope your computer recovers, it's a terrible time for a computer malfunction.
It was nice to see you in the group. I always have horrible social anxiety in these online fora, it's so hard to know how much space to take up, and all of the insecurity I feel at being the object of attention seems to be exponentially multiplied in online "space". All that to say that I appreciated your comments and apologize for mine.
I will certainly have time the week after next. Any day after Dec. 15 would be good for me, and best would be either mid or late afternoon, but I am really flexible if that doesn't work for you.
Thank you for your willingness to engage, I hope the project appeals to you.
all best,
and until soon,
Josh

Hi Josh,

Yes, I know, those spaces are so disconcerting. The written chat channel rather than speaking is generally my preference, even in small groups. It's just so difficult to speak without being spoken over or speaking over someone else. And I also think a few of us, me and ███████ certainly, were quite tired in that session (he'd just been celebrating passing his viva the night before - I had to insist that he attend - and I haven't been sleeping well due to back problems). But it also felt comfortable because I knew everyone, apart from █████ and ██████ (█████ more through ████). It was great that you were there, also my friend ███████ at the end, who got the time wrong from NY.

How about Thurs 17th to meet? Should be a bit freer then for me too. Term ends today but unfortunately not dept or union meetings....Late afternoon works well. How about 4.30?

all the best,

Marina

dear Marina,
Unfortunately, I made a mistake about my schedule next week. I have been recruited to participate in end of semester critiques for an MFA program, which will be a 2-day zoomarathon. The crits are in Canada, so my Wednesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings are already spoken for. If it's possible for you to meet either wednesday or thursday around 2:30 or on Friday at 4:30, that would be very helpful.
my best, and looking forward to speaking to you so much,
Josh

Hi Josh,

Sorry, it's been a hectic week, probably been the same for you. I am not sure if I can add a further meeting to my week now, but how about Monday? At least you'll have had time to recover form the zoomarathon by then.

all the best,

Marina

Hi Marina,
That’s a good suggestion. I would be happy to postpone until next Monday. My day is still rather open, so perhaps we could aim for something mid-afternoon?
All my best,
Josh

Hi Josh,

Sure - I have a doctor's appointment at 2, but could meet at noon or at 4 perhaps (I know neither of those is mid-afternoon...)?

all best,

Marina

Hi Marina,
4pm works for me.
Good luck with your doctor’s appointment, and thank you for your flexibility.
Should we meet on Google meet platform or elsewhere?
Warmly,
Josh

Marina Vishmidt <████████████████ >

Hi Josh,

Great, so 4 pm GMT it is. Google Meet is fine for me! How does it work, do you send a link? (have only had one meeting on it so far)

all the best,

Marina
