Hi everyone,

Spencer, in another email thread, you had the following question for Josh and Lauren:
  • What is your preferred final delivery date?

Josh and Lauren were wondering what kind of timelines are possible.

Thanks as always + more soon,
mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your email.

I realize this question was raised last Friday, and I missed responding to with my last email—apologies for that! I want to make sure we’re aligned and don’t lose any details across the different threads. I’ve added Herman here and will check with him first thing tomorrow regarding possible timelines. We’ll get back to you with accurate information right after.

Warm regards,

Hi Spencer!

We are finally ready for print. I'd like to introduce our wonderful clients (and friends), Josh and Lauren. Lauren lives in Belgium and may come by for a press visit.

Here are the files. We have included the packaged InDesign file + PDFs (single pages, spreads).

We have two note about the Pantone inks:

- on page 12 of the first section, we have the signature in blue. We set this file up in Photoshop as a layered tiff. We cut out the signature and applied a colour fill. We hope this was the right approach. The Pantone should be 2728.

- on the front and back cover (page 1 of the first section, page 12 of the last section), we have text that should be in Pantone 10388 Metallic. We would like the metallic link to be overprinted so the black ink from the contract text might show through:

Please send me over any estimate paperwork that needs to be signed and any initial deposit invoice.

Thank you so much!

Good morning all,

Please find hereby the production planning as currently booked:

PDF proof out: 4th March 2025 -> please check this WeTransferlink towards the ripped LoRes PDF proof: https://we.tl/#redacted

Approval to print: 10th March 2025 by 4 pm Belgian Time

On press: 12th March 2025 (*)

ExW: 25th March 2025

Delivery Brussels: 26th March 2025

Delivery Berlin: 28th March 2025

(*): PRESS PASS DATE

Unfortunately, I cannot be present for the press pass on 12th March 2025. I will be attending the London Book Fair and therefore I will not be in the office.

Spencer however could be in Ghent to welcome Josh & Lauren at Graphius. We expect to start printing at 09,00 am so if our guests could be here around 08,30, they can get settled in whilst the machine is set up.

We will also have our print manager available to accompany Spencer, Josh & Lauren to press.

Alternatively, if this date would not work, we need to move printing towards W/C 24th March 2025 and the ExW date would be somewhere W/C 7th April 2025.

I look forward hearing back from you.

Best wishes,

Herman.

Hi H9 and Josh,

(Offline from Graphius for the moment)

I am happy to go to Ghent for the press pass next week but it would be super helpful to have guidance on what exactly I should be looking for and doing, so that I can do it right.

Regarding the proof we have just received and need to approve by next Monday: what is that process here? Should both H9 and one of the editors both review it completely?

How exciting!

Lauren

Hi Lauren!

For the proof, please just look through and make sure it's all good. You can be as thorough as you want—in a perfect world, it would be a close review, but at this point, it's up to you. I would check the following:
- the pages are in the right order
- the images are all present
- there aren't any formatting issues (like, did an image or text box slip out of place)
- all ll the titles and names spelled correctly
- in the interview, all the speaker initials are attributed to the right passages
and other things like that. Spend a couple hours on this.

The main point of this approval is that the printer receives acknowledgement that you approve what they are printing, and if sometime later down the line, you get the book and there's an error (like they printed page 7 where page 6 should be...), you can't ask them to do a reprint, because they sent you a PDF where page 7 is where page 6 should be, and you said it was approved.

For the press check, this is entirely optional. It would make more sense for one of us to be there to ensure the print quality is as expected, but we've chosen one of the best printers in the world, so I hope that we can trust them. So, if you can't make it, it's fine.

I hope this makes sense and answered your questions :)
