dear Teresa and Camille,
I wanted to check in and see if you feel that it would be useful to have one more meeting today to go over the remaining requirements for the Concept to Realization grant.
When I looked over the grant on Sunday, I realized that we do have aspects of the project description that remain undetermined, including the title for the project, and I worry that we might not have given the application enough attention, since Saturday's meeting focused only on the Digital Now grant.
If these remaining pieces of the grant are being taken care of, and if it will be faster to address by email than by a meeting, just let me know and we can disregard this email. I just don't want to have a repeat situation of the OAC, where we were distracted during the meeting and didn't cover important outstanding issues.
Hope you are both well,
warmly,
Josh

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your email and consideration. Knowing the way that I work, I do think that a meeting today might be less productive than focusing on wrapping up these loose ends via email. Camille, what are your thoughts?

My best,

Hi both,

Thanks for reaching out!
I was just about to email Teresa regarding some of the outstanding items for the grant. I went over it in the last days, and what remains is mostly the name and supporting materials. If we don't hear back from the grant officer by the end of the day, do we have a plan B for supporting materials we could include? I also just wanted to confirm some of the items in the budget, such as the 1,500$ for the local artist in residency (do we still want to include this?) and if we should include a fee for a photographer to provide professional documentation to the artists (if so, is 300$ enough?).

I don't think we have to meet necessarily, as I think these things can be resolved by email.

Thanks,

Hi Camille,

I would like to leave in the $1500 for the local artist residency. And yes! We should include a photographer, but they should be documenting all of the works, in which case their fee would be $925 = two full days of work ($450 x2) + mileage ($25).

I'll upload some supporting materials that we can use to the folder.

Hi both,

I would like to make a strategic proposal: we can only apply to 2 canada council grants per year, and I no longer think the Digital Now stream should be one of these. The Concept to Realization grant is strong, but it could be much stronger. This steam has another deadline in October and for this reason I would like to wait on tomorrow's deadline. This way we can arrange for artists and other local institutions to be on board. Camille, I know your contract ends in September, but I see no reason why you and I can't do the work in advance of that, and it would therefore still be part of Josh's project.

I know this would be a last minute pivot, but I'm increasingly thinking it would be for the better. Let me know what you think about this.

My best,

Hi Teresa,

I agree. I think it could be much stronger with confirmed artists' work in the supporting material and confirmation letters of collaborators/institutions. I have no problem to work in advance of the October deadline.
Thank you for suggesting this, I think it will be for the best.

Best,

hi Teresa,
I also can see why this makes sense, and also why you aren't enthusiastic to apply for the digital now grant.
Given this decision, our meeting tomorrow will be a bit open.
I will pull together some kind of agenda for tomorrow where we can look ahead to upcoming deadlines.
warmly,
Josh
