Hi Camille

I am the manager of the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund here in Ontario.  I am curious to know more about the statement under the signature line of your email.  Is this primarily an art project, or does the Gallery truly wish to look at relocation?  How are the two things linked?  Is Joshua an artist-in-residence at the gallery?  Thanks very much,

Valerie

hi Camille,
thank you for forwarding this.

I suppose that it makes sense that I send an email clarifying the project, but maybe you could also write back to this person saying that I will send an email, that would be great.

I also think that Teresa should send an email explaining the nature of your position. I don't want to invalidate our communications with the officer, and worry that if I write sans Teresa, it could still be seen as scammy / invalid / not actual.

What do you think Teresa?

also, here is a draft of what I would send to her, let me know what you think / if you have any suggestions.

Dear Valerie,
Camille forwarded me an email wherein you had some questions about her role in relation to mine and the Forest City Gallery. I am a practicing Canadian contemporary artist. My work examines, among other things, the value of cultural labour. In this pursuit, I devised the Employee as a project whereby I have, with arts funding from the Canada Council, hired an employee to augment the workforce of the Forest City Gallery. As my employee, Camille's job is to increase the financial support of the gallery, which includes grant-writing and undertaking efforts to move the gallery from its current location. While the project is intended to make these funding preconditions visible, the project is a sincere effort to support the gallery, and as such, Camille is functioning as any other cultural worker in the pursuit of funding and financial support.
While Camille's position is unconventional, her communications with you are intended as any other cultural workers' might be: to discover more information about the application process for a Canadian Cultural Spaces grant to relocate the gallery.
I would be happy to speak with you further about the project if you have other questions.
best,
Josh

HI Josh,

Thank you for your email. I was planning on replying this morning and potentially include the blurb about the project? I just wanted to forward it to you first to see how you wanted me to proceed. It's also the first time that someone asks about my email signature so I thought it could be an interesting email thread for the publication.

Let me know if I should include the press release/blurb about the project in my reply and I'll send it then.
I also think your email sounds great!

Best,

hi Camille,
yes I also thought it is excellent as documentation.
If you feel comfortable responding on your own with the project description that's fine with me. I will also send the email above if you think that would be helpful.
