LCF Letter Draft

I reused some parts from the OTF grant, but there is just so much to say! I will also have to work a bit more on the formatting. Please feel free to edit/add comments and we can maybe share it Sunday afternoon with the Grant Writing Committee and Board. 

Teresa - Just wanted to give you a heads up that we will need your signature and Alex's signature too at the end of the letter.

Thanks so much for this! It is really strong and makes me feel super hopeful about our chances for approval! I've added some suggestions which may make the letter on the long side, so give it a pass. If it's too long now, I'll go back and cut some fat.

I was using it as a starting point as I am still researching amount for the ramp (seems around 4,000$) and automatic door (TBD).

As we can only ask for 50% of the capital expenses, I was wondering if there is anything else we need to put in the budget? We only need the total amount for this application.

Teresa, I was also wondering if you had time to work on the question about how the organization is funded? if not no worries, I can also finish this tomorrow morning.

I did another pass on the About and Finance sections. I made a few more small changes, and copied and pasted the new versions into the grant portal, fyi. I'll move on to the budget now. 

Which grant needed my updated bio indicating my skills, experience, etc? I thought it was this one, but I'm obviously mistaken.

 

Yes, it's not this one, it's the OAC which is our next deadline, so you definitely have more time to finish your bio.

Just a heads-up that I renamed the LCF proposal from Moving our gallery to Relocating our organization. 

Many people outside of the visual arts don't understand what an artist-run centre is, and for that reason, it's important to really drive home that we're more than just a gallery.

Re: budget, I reached close to the original 115,000$ we discussed (actually 116,100$) but I was wondering if I needed to add HTS and the potential 1,5% increase in construction costs because of the lockdown... I feel like I did round up a couple of things, so if you think that 115,000 or 116,100 is a good number to request, I think that would be fine too. Looking back at some of the past recipients, those who got more than 125,000 were often projects taking place over 2-3 years, so I just want to make sure it doesn't seem like too much. Let me know what you think.

I think the budget is good. I wouldn't add the HST or 1.5% because we're already stretching it a bit, and you're right about the disbursements amounts compared to the duration of the projects. 

Which, unless I'm missing something, means we're ready to go! As soon as I have the pdf letter signed I'll send it your way.

I just wanted to confirm that the application is submitted!!! They said that we will hear back mid-March if we go to the second round, which is very soon so that's super exciting.
